Make Your Outfit Street Smart

Today I had the denim photo shoot for FIDM MODE Magazine. It went great but if you ever think everything will go according to plan on a photo shoot I'm here to tell you, you're crazy. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't running around and worried if we make the shoot on time. It was a larger shoot; we had about 5 male models, a female model, 3 stylists/ designers, and a make up team. Luckily, the MODE board is an AMAZING team and we all pulled through and killed it on how quick we wrapped the shoot up. Props to our photographer, she knew exactly what she was doing which equals an easy, quick shoot.

Now this whole shoot was inspired by recreating distressed denim and showing how to wear the perfect grunge/street look. Street wear is a pretty easy look but it's more than just wrapping a flannel around your waist and wearing some jeans from the 80's that you bought at a thrift store. Today we are seeing local artists and designer collaborate on making raw art piece you can wear. This reinvented style of grunge is an easy-going look and a must have in your closet. For this shoot we really wanted to show off some of our designers at FIDM and have a group of rugged/tough men with a strong independent woman. She will represent the 'ring leader' of the group. We kept her make-up clean with simple winged eyeliner and rosy soft lips. (The model had natural flawless skin so it was real easy to work with) We did her hair up bold with big, attitude curls. These feminine features balanced with the tatted men. First look was a very street and grunge. We had her in fully ripped up jeans, graphic crop top, and a men’s flannel that we tucked into the pants and had it peaking through the shredded pants.

For her second look we did a throwback to Sandy from Grease but made her more modern and kept in denim instead of that sexy leather number she wore in the movie. We put her in black high-waisted worn out jeans with the ankles cut and left with raw edges. One of the guys brought a white graphic T-shirt so we tied it up in 80’s styled knot right at belly button level. The cherry on top to bring this look together had to be her old school black and white heels and denim jacket with leather lace-up detail on the back.

Special thank you to everyone who helped with this shoot!! We couldn't have done it without you!
