MODE Magazine Launch Party

So tonight the MODE board team and I Hosted a launch party for the past issue 'Social Media'. It was a great location, fun swag bags (such goodies!), amazing food, and great friends! I was super excited for this issue because one of my designs were shot and got a full page. I know its not a huge huge deal to some but to me it is a great opportunity and something I am proud of. This shoot was all about 'Minimalism' and this idea of simple color palettes with an industrial, raw look.

This dress is completely made out of Paperplates. The way I came up with this concept was by playing around with shape and I was folding a plate to throw it in the trash when I realized it gave the perfect look of a cup for the bust. I went and bought a bulk pack of paperplates at the 99cent store (I was a designer on a budget). I started by cutting little triangles out one by one and piecing them together around the bust and took off from there. I didnt know what exactly what I wanted it to look like. I let it tell me what it wanted to be. I just knew I wanted this strong, structured feeling.
