Collection Development

Today I worked on my collection (more like a group since it’s only 3-6 pieces). I had to put in some serious pattern work today. I got caught up in getting inspired and redesigning the past 2 weeks. So right now I have 2 garments sewn and patterned and about 4 in the works. I’m buckling down and going to finish the ones I already have started. Making sure everything is clean and fitting correctly.

Working with this silk has been my biggest challenge. When I first thought about my collection, silk was not my vision but you have to sometimes let the work tell you what it wants to be. The soft hand…the sexy drape on the body… the mix of harsh and soft that I am known for as a designer. Silk was just my answer, plus, I found this amazing silk fabric with a beautiful floral design (you haven’t seen it yet mainly because I was nervous to start cutting. It was not cheap.) and that set off the domino effect of working with silk.

Here is my 8 week sneak peek into my collection. The purple top is only cut and pinned. I didn’t sew it up yet. I'm in the progress of creating a long highwaisted skirt that can go with all tops as well as the 2 other tops I have to cut and sew. .......it's going to be one a hell of a week pulling all these together in time.
